Steady Growth 6/13/2011

6/10/2011 2 lb 13.5 oz
6/11/2011 2 lb 15.6 oz
6/12/2011 2 lb 15.6 oz
6/13/2011 3 lb 1.3 oz

Miss Aliyah weighed in over 3 lbs!  That is good.
The ventilator setting moved from 10 breaths per minute to 5 breaths per minute.  That is good.

Aliyah hit two new milestones today.  Prayerfully, the doctors will be able to remove the ventilator completely at the end of this week or next week.  The last time they put her on regular CPAP, her lung partially collapsed.  The approach this time around is to gradually decrease the aid of the machine to make the transition easier.

I only spoke to Christal briefly today.  It was one of those nights where I get in and she is already sleep.  That is good.  She needs the rest.

Below is a new picture of Aliyah without the CPAP on.  The strip going across her face is a piece of velcro.  It holds the CPAP in place to keep the prongs from coming out of her nose.  She also has the feeding tube going down her mouth.  Before she leaves the hospital, her muscles will have to be strong enough to nurse.  She still tries to suck her thumb from time to time.  It is not as much as it used to be.  There is so much stuff around her head and in her mouth, it makes it difficult for her.

God Bless each and everyone of you!
