Good news...Good news....the CPAP is off and the cannula is on!!!!  What an exciting day!  Aliyah is doing well and she was smiling again today.  Christal took my favorite picture thus far today (see below).  As they took off the CPAP, she took the opportunity to let us know how happy she was.  Man, it is hard not to smile when I look at it.  She seems so happy.  The cannula will allow her to be held a lot easier.  It will also give her a chance to suck on her pacifier.  She needs to build up her endurance and coordination before she can come home.  Can you believe that!  She must learn how to breath, suck, and swallow all at the same time!  I'm glad I have that last sentence in context......standing alone, that doesn't sound very holy!  When she gets closer to 4 lbs, they will try to start feeding her through a bottle.

She also gained a great deal of weight.  She rebounded well from a slight drop the night before.  I was really excited watching her in her bed today.  She looked so comfortable laying there.  We will also be able to see her face and hair for extended periods of time.  I'm so thankful for the little things.  Being able to see her hair, face, and eyes simultaneously is something I'm not used to.  Most of the pictures posted on this blog are taken during cleanup.

The medical staff was able to turn down the heat in her bed as well.  She is beginning to regulate her heat better.  We are at 31 weeks now (she was born at 24 weeks).

If you haven't guessed it, the title was stolen from one of the best movies of all time....
Coming to America ;).

God Bless each and everyone of you.  Thank you for your prays.
