Christal and I went to visit Aliyah today.  She was doing ok.  Her bottom is still raw, but it is improving.  She did well last night as well.  The doctor came by while I was doing Kangaroo Care today.  He said that Aliyah is progressing nicely.  Monday, they may take another positive step to reduce the help she is receiving from the ventilator (moving from 10 breaths per min. to 5 breaths per min.)

Later today, the eye doctor came by.  He indicated Aliyah had an eye condition.  The veins in her eyes are enlarged.  This condition leads to blindness in 1 out of 4 children.  I choose to mention this because this is a mild report compared to the many negative ones Dr. Santiago gave us on 4/20/2011 (The day Christal was admitted).  At that time, he gave us all the risks associated with given birth to a 23, 24, and 25 week old premature child.  It was his job, but it was not encouraging.  At that time, Christal and I both made a choice to believe and have faith in God and his promises.  Today, we choose to believe Aliyah will have full function of her limbs, full brain capacity, and 20/20 vision!

Aliyah, you will be able to read this one day.  I pray you understand fully how many things you truly overcame and how special you are.

God bless all that have been praying for our family!
